SELF STORAGE TIPS

  1. Our units are not climate controlled, please plan accordingly.

    • Place your items on pallets or wood strips to avoid direct contact with the floor of the unit. Unit floors, walls and ceilings can “sweat” during changes in ambient temperature.
    • Use plastic tubs or containers instead of cardboard boxes to hold your belongings. Cardboard boxes can not only be damaged by moisture, they are also prone to collapse when subjected to warmer temperatures.
    • Use mattress bags or plastic sheeting to cover furniture items. This protects against moisture, but also against dust and dirt that sneaks through the cracks. This is especially important if you will be storing things for an extended period of time.

  1. Never store perishable items in your unit.

    • The facility gets monthly pest control treatment for mice and bugs, but if you store anything edible in your unit – they can, and will, still find it.
    • Inviting pests into your unit also invites them into the units of other customers near you. Please be considerate of your neighbors.

  1. Insure your stored items.

    • Our property is insured, but our coverage does not extend to your stored belongings.
    • If you have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance, they may extend that coverage to include your stored belongings. We always recommend customers look into this option first.
    • If you need stand alone insurance, just Google “storage insurance”. There are many inexpensive options out there to provide peace of mind against unexpected damage to your valuables.

  1. Check on your stored items at least monthly, when possible.

    • You’re the only person with access to your unit. If pests, moisture, or anything else that isn’t supposed to be there has gotten in there – it’s better to know sooner rather than later.

If you notice damage or other potentially unsafe conditions in the facility – please call the office or fill out the contact form below.
